In "Just Go With It," Adam Sandler and Brooklyn Decker's characters meet at a house party, fall hard for each other, and — in an instance of what the "Jersey Shore" cast would call being "DTF" — spend a sandy night of passion on the beach.

Which begs the question: How does the cast feel about getting down and dirty on the first date? Good idea? Great idea? Or you-gotta-be-crazy bad idea? That's what MTV News wanted to know when we hit the film's red-carpet premiere earlier this week.

"Terrible idea. Don't do it!" Sandler declared. "You got to hold it back."

In fact, Sandler said that if viewers take away one thing from the new comedy, it should be, "Block it! Block it and lock it!"

Aniston agreed. "I don't think it's a good idea," she told us.

Decker, too, approved of that keep-it-in-your-pants counsel, even if her big-screen counterpart did not. "Total no-no. A complete no-no," the model-turned-actress said. "My character, Palmer, did it. Shame on Palmer! Make him wait. That should be something kind of special."

Lest you think everyone involved with "Just Go With It" is advising randy Americans to wait until, say, the second date to bump and grind, one co-star told us that, hey, if it feels good, go for it.

"I think it probably depends. Seems like a good idea at the time, doesn't it?" said Dave Matthews, who has a small but memorable role as an egocentric resort-goer. "If you're both into sleeping together on the first date, I can't think of a reason not to. Good idea!"

Noam Murro to Direct DIE HARD 5

Die Hard 5 officially has a director, and it’s not exactly someone you expected. Noam Murro, best known for helming 2008’s Smart People starring Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker, has been tapped by Fox to direct the latest installment of the Die Hard franchise. Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) has been on hand to write the screenplay since last May. However, earlier today we reported that Fox was unimpressed with Woods’ latest draft of the screenplay and is going back to the drawing board, with franchise star Bruce Willis taking an active role in development. Having a director on board should be helpful in crafting a successful script, but might Fox bring another writer in for some fresh perspective?

Though Murro is relatively unknown, THR’s report points out that he’s a highly acclaimed commercials director, having been nominated by the DGA for Director of the Year five times, as well as having won the Gold Lion at the Cannes Gold Lion awards. Hit the jump for more on Murro.

While it may seem an odd choice to hire someone with little to no action experience for a Die Hard movie, Michael Bay started in commercials, so I’ll reserve judgment until we see what the guy can do (if he’s winning awards, he’s gotta be doing something right).

There’s currently no word on what the plot of DieImpossible Hard 5 will entail, though Willis previously stated that this film will be “worldwide.” However, so many different rumors about the project have arisen in the last year, there’s no telling what the film actually looks like now. The previous franchise installment, the Len Wiseman-helmed Live Free or Die Hard, was a commercial success (thanks to the PG-13 rating) having grossed $383.5 million worldwide, but was met with a mixed reaction from both audiences and critics.

Venture capitalists give pep-up pill to start-ups in hard times

Mahesh Murthy, a partner at Seedfund, is at one of the nine start-ups his venture capital firm has invested in everyday, to help companies stay afloat in these troubled times.

Murthy and his two other partners would till a few months ago visit these companies only once in more than a month. Now, they visit these firms daily, to guide the start-ups in cutting and saving costs and improving operational efficiencies. The whole idea is to ensure that the start-ups smoothly sail through the economic downturn.

What Murthy and his partners do is a new norm among venture capital funds. "We are now spending 50 per cent of the time with investee companies," said Hemir Doshi, senior investment adviser, IDG Ventures India. "We have to ensure none of them should fall by the way and continue to remain healthy." Visits to companies have now become once a week from once a month earlier, Doshi said. IDG is a $150 million early-stage venture capital firm investing in technology and technology-enabled companies.

"Companies are being advised to let employees travel between cities like Mumbai and Pune or Bangalore and Chennai only by road, and not by air. For travel to distant cities, normal fare airlines are strictly banned," Seedfund's Murthy, told HT. "We tell companies to use only low cost carriers if officials have to travel to distant cities."

Seedfund has made early stage investments in firms like Carwale.com, an online used card market, and online agencyfaqs.com, an online resource for advertising, media and marketing.

According to Doshi, IDG is looking at altering the employee compensation structure by reducing the fixed component and increasing the variable component. "Companies are advised to increase the variable pay to 30-40 per cent wherever possible from 10-20 per cent," he said. Doshi was addressing a gathering of aspiring entrepreneurs organised by Headstart Network Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that brings together people with start-up ideas and venture capital funds.

Venture capital funds have made sales and revenues top priority at start-ups they have funded and are impressing upon the companies to bring down cash burn as much as possible. Start-ups are being told they need to behave as if they are already in a recession.

Protest as Facebook removes breastfeeding photos

A mass online protest movement is gathering pace after Facebook banned some breastfeeding photos from the social network site.

Angry mothers even picketed the Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, California, in a live "nurse-in" to complain about a ban on photos of mothers suckling their children that exposed too much of the mother's breast. Hundreds of women have had their pictures removed without warning and have been informed that they may be barred from using the site.

More than 80,000 people have joined a Facebook petition group "Hey Facebook, Breast-feeding is not Obscene" with hundreds joining every hour. More than 11,000 women from around the world have also taken part in an online "nurse-in" protest on Saturday by posting more breastfeeding pictures. The protest's organisers reported that many have since had these photos removed from the site.

Facebook has said that it has no problem with breastfeeding but photos that showed nipples or aureolae were indecent and had to be removed.

Barry Schnitt, a Facebook spokesman, said the website takes no action over most breast-feeding photos because they follow the site's terms of use.

"We agree that breast-feeding is natural and beautiful and we're very glad to know that it is so important to some mothers to share this experience with others on Facebook.'' But, he added, some photos were removed to ensure the site remains safe and secure for all users, including children.

"Photos containing a fully exposed breast - as defined by showing the nipple or areola - do violate those terms on obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit material and may be removed," he said in a statement. "The photos we act upon are almost exclusively brought to our attention by other users who complain."

Patricia Madden, from San Jose, had a photograph of her breastfeeding her daughters Zoe and Isobel removed from the site. The birth doula, who encourages new mothers to breast-feed, was photographed by her husband while feeding in the bathtub.

"It's amazing to me that we're living in a world where people are upset by this,'' she said. "You can't see my nipples. It's completely legal to breast-feed in public. Breast-feeding is completely natural and healthy. They took off the photo, without my permission," she told the San Jose Mercury News.

The live protest in Palo Alto, under the banner of the Mothers International Lactation Campaign, attracted a handful of mothers and supporters who picketed peacefully, armed with suckling children and placards.

It is legal to breastfeed in public in most states in America and in many countries around the world including Britain but Facebook's terms of service give it the right to remove content that it deems it to be inappropriate. Campaigners say that breastfeeding is natural and healthy and should be not bracketed with pornography. Facebook's stance demeans and stigmatises women, they say.

Heather Farley, 23, of Provo, Utah, said she was surprised when Facebook took down two photos of her nursing her 6-month-old daughter, one of which was her profile picture. She became of the protest's organisers. She said: "Where I live, I can breast-feed in public or private, and there are laws that say it's not obscene or lewd or indecent. If I can do it in public, why can't I do it on Facebook?"

Censoring such images, she said, reinforces stigmas that discourage mothers from a healthy, natural practice. Angry at the site, but not wanting to lose her online friend network by unsubscribing, she decided to take action.

The online petition on Facebook, which has more than 120 million members around the world, has sparked a furious debate with more than 1,500 discussion topics on the petition's homepage. Most comments are supportive but some ask why, if breastfeeding mothers don't like being censored on Facebook, they don't join another free site which does allow them to post their pictures.

P2P file sharing programs are free. Period. But there are P2P scam sites out there that want you to pay them instead. P2P scam sites are rogue companies that have set up shop to fleece unsuspecting music downloaders looking for file sharing programs by charging a fee for an otherwise free service.

No P2P file sharing software costs money. Exceptions would be a site asking members to make a monetary donation to help pay for bandwidth, hosting costs, and other administrative costs.

Some P2P file sharing programs offer "pro" versions of their free software. But again, their basic service is free to the public. I want you to fully understand this, because paying a P2P scam site money can not only make your wallet a bit lighter, it can also make your computer vulnerable to dangerous spyware.

That's right. These scam sites are only interested in making money off you. As well as actually taking your money by fooling you into paying them, they'll make money off you by installing spyware on your PC, so that they can get paid by sharing your online habits and personal information with others.

For music download beginners, all of this can be very confusing. Why? Because these scam sites advertise all over the Internet. Search engines return results chockful of these scams alongside the real P2P file sharing programs; their banner ads riddle the Internet landscape; sites are promoting these scams to get their piece of your money.

Most real P2P programs don't advertise much on the Internet. The reason is that they're not money makers. It takes money to advertise, and who has more money--the free P2P file sharing programs or the scam artists? You guessed it. P2P relies on word of mouth. The scam sites rely primarily on advertising.

How Can I Tell a P2P Scam Site?
This is the easy part, if you know what you're looking for. P2P scam sites often use phrases like 100% Legal, which is absolutely untrue. This is a trick they use to prey on people interested in P2P file sharing programs, but who are worried (rightly) about Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) lawsuits. Keep in mind that sharing and downloading of copyrighted files is, at this moment, an illegal activity.

Another tactic is to use fake endorsements and recommendations from legitimate companies. Other cons are to use phrases like Direct Downloads!, Get Access Now!, Download Unlimited Free Music!, and other phrases that are promising you things they absolutely CANNOT deliver.

How Does It Work & How are They Doing It?
To be honest, I do not know the ins and outs of P2P scam sites. But I know this: all P2P file sharing programs are free. Think about it a moment. It is because music files are being shared free of charge (without artists receiving royalties) that organizations like the RIAA are mad and suing.

These P2P scam sites are merely taking your money, downloading a little spyware to your PC, then connecting you to one of the real P2P file sharing programs.

This is all convoluted by the nature of P2P, which is a series of servers networking files to one another. Unless you're buying your music MP3 downloads from a legitimate company, either per song/album or through a monthly subscription, you cannot be sure where your music is coming from.

The legal status of P2P file sharing programs is confusing. We know that MP3 files themselves are not illegal. For example, it's legal to possess MP3s, to rip your CDs to your hard drive, and to burn CDs for your personal use. But, by sharing and/or downloading these files, you are breaking copyright laws. To my knowledge, P2P scam sites are not actually breaking any laws. But why pay for something you don't have to?

One of the most common techniques these scam artists use is to set up sites that are misspellings or derivations of popular P2P file sharing programs. KaZaA is probably the most hijacked name being used these days.

Other sites may not actually charge you anything at all, but they'll "give you the software for free" if you give them your email address. This too is a scam. Because once again, they're just sending you along to a proper P2P program, but after collecting your email address, they're selling it to third parties. Don't give these scammers any of your personal information!

If you're on a website you trust, even this website, you may see ads by these scam artists, preaching their lies about 100% blah, blah, blah. For your own security, don't click on the links. They're still scams. (Many independent websites rely on ads to pay the bills. We don't always have full control over what advertisements appear on our sites. Keep in mind that most online advertisements are arranged and distributed by third-party companies who pair up advertisements with appropriate keywords. So a page that discusses "music downloads" is likely to have an ad from a scam site singing their own false praises.)

On this note, there are sites all over the Internet that actually promote P2P scam sites. Why? I have my opinions. First, these scam sites are paying large sums of money to affiliates who promote their sites. For example, a scam site may be charging you $29.95 for their non-service. Well, they're paying affiliates over half (I've seen the pay-out as high as 75%) of that just for getting you, the visitor, to their scam sites.

I Think I've Used One of these Scam Sites. What Do I Do Now?
Stop! Right now, stop using that service. If you've got some type of monthly payment with them, stop paying them. Cancel your "membership," contact your bank or credit card company, and stop paying them immediately! Secondly, your computer has probably have been infected by spyware, and you need to remove it right away. I recommend purchasing spyware-removal software like Pest Patrol because they do the best job at clearing out spyware parasites.

If you've been pulled into a scam site, just rack it up to experience. Their ad copy is very convincing, and you just wanted to "be legal" while downloading. Take heart in knowing that you're not alone. But you're better off now, with this information at your disposal.

In my opinion, this is another reason to consider not using P2P file sharing programs as a means to get your online music. I think that these P2P scam sites will increase in number, and will use more clever tactics to get your money and your information. Until the peer-to-peer communities are regulated in some way, I fear that these types of activities will get worse before they improve.

Boobs, violence, zombies - could this be the best video game movie ever?

A while back it was announced that the Japanese hack-and-slash game OneeChanbara was being made into a movie, and now we have a brief trailer (embedded above). It may not show much, just some dark shots of the decidedly hot protagonist tilting her hat, doing expressive dance in a field, and staring at the camera, but it’s only a teaser after all.

While video game movies are notorious for just sucking in general, this one has potential. First, there’s no Uwe Boll in sight; and second, the game’s plot seems simple enough that it can’t be ruined by scriptwriters who think they know better than the people who created the game. Which brings us to where the real potential lies: the game is about a Japanese cowgirl who runs around in a bikini gorily killing zombies and other creatures with her katana.

Now imagine it’s live action, with the same over the top blood and dismembereddistorsoed legs, but with more realistic zombies, slightly less repetitive action, and Eri Otoguro in a bikini instead of a virtual woman. Tits, ass, violence, zombies–it pretty much writes itself. It’s planned to come out this April, and all they needed to do was make it last 90 minutes without bogging it down by including too much plot, so let’s hope they did it right and it turns out to be a campy, totally awesome zombie film. I mean, how can they go wrong?

*That’s rhetorical. I’m sure they’ll find plenty of ways to make it far less awesome than it should be.

Filmfare Awards 2008 announced, 53RD Fair One Filmfare awards

Filmfare awards 2008 are finally out. Akshay Kumar fans are in for disappointment as he did not win a single award. We had predicted that he’d get the Best Actor in a Comic Role for atleast one of the 5 back to back hits he had given. Sadly the category itself was scrapped out this time. It is ironical because comedy was the toast of the year 2007.

Ditto for the Filmfare Award in a Negative Role, there was no award itself…God knows why, Viveik Oberoi and Arjun Rampal who were supposed to be favorites in this category have not got their due.

Now for the report card. …Shahrukh Khan won the Filmfare Best Actor award 2008 for his underplayed role of a hockey coach in Chak De India. This time Shahrukh Khan joins Dilip Kumar as the person who has won the highest number of Filmfare Best Actor awards ever.
Kareena Kapooor won the Filmfare Best Actress Award 2008 for her role in Jab We Met. She got the award from none other than Saif Ali Khan(a picture perfect moment). Best Film 2008 went to Taare Zameen Par. The Best Director’s Award went to Aamir Khan who beat the likes of Shimit Amin, Farah Khan, Imtiaz Ali,Anurag Basu and Mani Ratnam to get the award. Of course, Aamir Khan never turned up for the award.

Filmfare Best supporting actor award went to Irrfan Khan. Though his role was more comical, he should have got the Best Actor in a comic role and Aamir could have suited the Best Supporting Actor award(he was nominated) for his splendid portrayal in Taare Zameen Par. But then we cannot question the results can we?

Filmfare Best Supporting Actress award went to Konkana Sen Sharma for her role in Life in a Metro. The Best Music award for 2008 went to A.R.Rahman for Guru (funny Taare Zameen Par wasn’t even nominated, though people liked it so much!). The Best lyrics award went to Prasoon Joshi for Maa. Shaan won the Filmfare Best Male Playback singer award for his rendering of Jab se Tere Naina (Saawariya) and Shreya Goshal bagged he Filmfare Best Female Playback singer for her sweet rendering of the song “Barso Re”(Guru).

Deepika Padukone won the Best Female Debutante 2008 award. Quite obviously Sonam and Anil Kapoor did not attend the award. Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Male Debut award 2008 for his role in Saawariya. To add more to Sonam’s woes, Deepika Padukone also won the Fresh Face of the Year award.

Have a specific time zone, say between 11:00am to 12:00pm OR 3:00pm to 4:00pm, to place your calls instead of telephoning throughout the day.

Business development and sales team should understand the above. As you are calling everyday, analyze the results, in which part of the day your success rate is high – during the morning hours or post lunch? It will be a good idea to specifically note down the frequently called persons and notice when they are likely to be available. As you analyze your data please schedule your calling hours accordingly and get maximum results rather than calling through out the day.

While she tends to hide her face away, there are moments when her vibrant smile and attractive features come into view. But her true strength lies in her unique voice and boundless energy. We're willing to bet that dating Karen O is like riding a rollercoaster: you strap yourself in and go on the ride of your life.

5- Jenny Lewis
While we love her for her music, our infatuation with the lead singer of indie darlings Rilo Kiley began when in our adolescence, when we first saw her starring opposite Fred "Kevin Arnold" Savage in the awesomely bad movie "The Wizard." But rather than take the low road, as most child actors tend to do, Jenny Lewis is riding high on the success of her music. And while she's matured into a certified hottie, our inner 12-year olds will always think of her as the spunky and cute Haley.

4- Feist
If we had to describe the haunting beauty of Feist and her music with a single word, we would have a tough time choosing between 'sophisticated' and 'vulnerable.' So we'll just mash to the together and call her 'sophistinerable.' Or would 'vulneristicated' be better? Either way, Feist lands on our list of sexy sirens because she's, well, hot and she can sing. What else do we have to say?

Judging from the photos that we could find, Regina Spektor isn't very tall. We're guessing she stands no taller than 5 feet. We could be wrong and really, it doesn't matter, because her diminutive frame packs a voice strong enough to reach the highest rafters. Her quirky songs and quirkier demeanor make her shine and easily earns her a spot high up on our list.

Whether she's singing alone or as part of indie rock group, The New Pornographers, Neko Case is as red hot as her hair color would suggest. Armed with a powerful voice and a sophisticated charm, Neko Case is the kind of girl that your mother will love and that your friends will drool over.

Album Review: Britney Spears - Blackout (Times Review)

Finally, a good week for Britney Spears? Just as we were getting to think that a lunar eclipse might come sooner, here’s some tentative cause for celebration.

In the space of 24 hours, the woman who yields roughly 82,000 results if you Google her name along with the phrase “troubled singer”, has been granted temporary visitation rights to her children and seen her new single Gimme More leap into the British chart’s top three.

Now, if Britney’s record company is to be believed, a good week just got better. Apparently, “unprecedented popular demand” has prompted SonyBMG to bring the release date of her comeback album Blackout forward by three weeks.

Cynics might point out that, one way or another, they would have been compelled to do so. MP3s of songs from the album have been circulating among fans over the last few weeks. That they have been moved to do so, does at least, serve reminder of the very thing that is perhaps most easily forgotten among her recent roll-call of infamy.

She is first and foremost a pop star. In a life not exactly saturated with joy, she should take a certain amount of pleasure in the fact that Blackout coheres far better than sprawling recent sets by her fellow Mickey Mouse Club alumni Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.

Far from apologising for a roll-call of adversity that takes in custody battles, hit-and-run offences, extreme hairdressing, sudden lingerie loss and umbrella-on-pap savagery – she comes out fighting on the utterly wonderful Piece Of Me.

“I’m Miss bad media karma/Another day another drama/Guess I can’t see no harm in working and being a mama,” she declaims over an adhesively catchy chorus.

Britney may have grown up in front of MTV, perfecting Madonna’s dance routines, but she isn’t the self-determining control-freak that her heroine turned into. Neither, it should be added, does she need to be. Her recent mishaps have only compounded her status as muse of choice to top-notch writer producers such as Swedish hitmakers Bloodshy & Avant, Timbaland protégé Danja and The Neptunes.

On the Pharrell Williams-written Why Should I Be Sad and, indeed, most of what precedes it, Britney is a strangely disembodied presence – her heavily treated voice suspended amid an icy fug of minor chords and brittle synthetic beats.

If truth be told, certain songs wouldn’t have sounded too different if her vocal were totally erased. On Get Naked (I Got A Plan) and Radar her voice is a piece that slots tidily into a finely sculpted piece of burnished future-pop.

But when the whole works so well, it makes no sense to mind. Perfect Lover and Toy Soldier are quite simply two of the most strangely wonderful tunes to emerge on any record this year – exercises in sonic risk-taking that, until this point, have never hitched themselves to a Britney Spears record.

So why now, then? Well, perhaps it was in the spirit of having nothing to lose that someone suggested Britney try her hand at a marching-pace sex-fantasy about a soldier which pitched itself somewhere between Prince’s female alter-ago Camille and the sensation of watching Full Metal Jacket as ten Glade Plug-Ins infuse the air with amyl nitrate. Who knows?

Furthermore, does this stuff work on any profound level? Well, ever since she appeared in 1999 with Hit Me Baby One More Time, Britney has enjoyed a certain status as metatextual plaything of Late Review guests and chin-stroking post-ironics (no mean feat, this – Kylie and Madonna had to ensure years of highbrow snobbery to get to the same point). When it comes down to it though, the answer is no, not really. A gaggle of schoolchildren exchanging ringtones on the top deck of the bus will just as easily tell you why these songs work. They tick almost every box in the checklist of great pop, period.

Perhaps that shouldn’t be so surprising. After all, Britney Spears learned to be a pop star way before she learned to be an adult. In a sense then, it’s fitting that her facility for great pop moments is the very last facet of her to shut down.

Hello... is a tale about the events that happen one night at a call center. Told through the views of the protagonist, Shyam, it is a story of almost lost love, thwarted ambitions, absence of family affection, pressures of a patriarchal set up, and the work environment of a globalized office.

Shyam is losing his girl friend because his career is going nowhere as he trudges his way around in a call center. His girl friend, Priyanka, is also an agent like him at the call canter who is about to be snatched by an NRI techno geek.

There is also the aspiring model, Esha, who is hopping for the break that seems to be always already eluding her and the man about town, Vroom, who is into well, things. The housewife, Radhika, who is constantly at the receiving end of her mother-in-law and a beleaguered grandfather, Military Uncle, who has been barred from interacting with his grandchild make up the rest of the call agents who see their worlds crumbling around them as the decisions of right sizing are conveyed by Bakshi, the boss.

It is a night when dreams will finally crumble. Or will it? For there is that call from God. Narrated as a tale within a tale as a beautiful woman meets the auteur narrator and promises him a story on the condition that he has to narrate it further, Hello, based on Chetan Bhaqat's one night @ the call Center, is the one remarkable story from Tales from a Thousand and One globalizing, urban, Indian Nights.

Apple's iPod line has been steadily evolving over the past years since the first iPod was introduced in 2001. Since then, we've seen multiple revisions and eliminations (iPod mini) of each line, slowly migrating into the product lineup we see on store shelves today, the iPod classic, iPod touch, iPod nano, and the iPod shuffle.

One of the latest iPods introduced into the line is the iPod touch, a product which looks to have evolved from the iPhone - labeled as a slimmed down iPhone, or an iPhone without the phone.

Capacity

The iPod touch is available in two flavors, 8 and 16GB. For this "small" reason the product has been heavily slammed by a few large names in the industry. They're saying "why couldn't Apple have put a 160GB hard drive into the device instead of the excessively expensive flash based drives. For this reason, some have been swayed away from purchasing the device, I wasn't one, coming off a 60GB iPod and somewhat "downgrading" to the 16GB iPod touch I haven't felt at all restricted with the storage limitation.

When formatted, the 16GB iPod touch has 14.82GB of space remaining for video, image and audio content. I've heard many claims that Apple is un-fairly advertising its storage capacity, though it's the same with everyone. Companies claim to have a 250GB hard drive when the actual formated capacity is around 230GB - 232GB to be exact.

Slimness and Scratches

As been labeled as the slimmed down iPhone, the iPod touch certainly is. At just 8-mm thin, the touch is much thinner than the iPhone, it feels great in hand and when slipped into my pocket it's so light I can almost forget that it's there. It's amazingly thin and light - the iPod I've always dreamt of.

In the past it has been a scary thought of slipping an iPod into your pocket without a case due to their knack to scratch easily - this problem is now non-existant with the iPod touch. The screen is repellent to scratches. For the purpose of backing up this claim, I ran the point of a sharp needle over the screen of the iPod touch a few dozen times, when looking up at it in the light, no scratching or scuffing was apparent - impressive - I'm considering skipping on a case purchase for this iPod.

Touch Interface

The most apparent new feature to the iPod touch is the touch-based user interface. After five minutes of playing with it I was already in astonishment with how well Apple thought out the UI and general feel of browsing the device.

The touch interface is a great new way to browse your music and navigate around your iPod. When you're browsing through your music while holding the device upright, you can scroll through by moving and dragging your finger, when you turn the device sideways, the iPod touch automatically switches the iPod to CoverFlow view in a horizontal format, allowing you to browse through your music by flicking (quite literally) through album covers. This innovative new way to navigate your music library is great fun and yet another way Apple has integrated its new acquisition of the technology to the product line.

I've found browsing through CoverFlow a very quick and pleasing experience, due to the use of the flash based HDD, flicking through music is rather snappy, this is one area of the device I see the flash hard drive to be very useful. A standard spinning drive would choke and burn under this performance stress.

Battery Life

When you want to preserve battery life while listening to music, you can press the sleep button on top of the device, this shuts off screen power and keeps your music playing. When pressing it again, it wakes the screen and prompts you to move a slider to unlock the iPod to prevent accidental input. This is by far one of my favorite UI enhancements - it works seamlessly and is perfectly executed.

Battery life for video playback is slightly under Apple's estimate. The audio playback time is rather impressive, I've been playing music for 5 hours a day for three days now, and the battery still has around 50% remaining. This was one of of my major concerns with the iPod touch before it arrived - the power required to display such a large display.

Wi-Fi

Another large feature headlining is the in-built Wi-Fi in the iPod touch. Wi-Fi is something I've been waiting on for such a lengthy period of time in an iPod, I began to think it would never arrive. Two applications on the iPod built to take advantage of this feature is Safari and YouTube. Safari allows you to browse the web just like in "real form" - just like you're browsing on your desktop machine, while the YouTube application allows you to browse popular videos on the site, or perform a custom search for an exact content match.

Wi-Fi speed is pretty nippy, it's performing a little slower than my Mac Pro desktop in the same position, namely on pages with a bunch of images. The only problem I've had is when I've found myself browsing the web when Safari crashes and takes me back to the home screen. I have noticed a trend of more frequent crashes happening on image heavy web-pages, however it's also happened while entering text in fields on some sites and forums. Because of these crashes, I'd only recommend you use the browser lightly and not load any large scale galleries which could stall the iPod, as crashes will be inevitable at some point.

Disappointingly, the iPod touch Safari browser also lacks support for Java and Flash, meaning unless you're 100% happy with the YouTube browser, you're out of luck to view other video content on the web.

Data Input
The on-screen keyboard is rather impressive at first glance, but becomes a little tedious after using it for a while. It's difficult to develop a suitable typing technique as using your thumbs is difficult due to the small nature of the keys, and using your forefingers makes holding the device awkward to a point. I'm still switching between the two possibilities trying to develop the best technique for me - a little trial and error is in need for this.

Moving to a positive point, the auto correction and auto completion is wonderful. When you're typing a common word the iPod will reveal a possible match underneath the text you're typing, if this is the correct word you're after, it's as simple as tapping the space bar to accept the selection and start on the next word. This is a huge timesaver and makes inroads for general typing difficulty.

Conclusion
I've been very impressed with my iPod touch. Although it lacks in areas such as capacity, Safari reliability, and a difficult on screen keyboard, it makes up for all of this with its smooth user interface which is an absolute joy to play with.

Our advice, if you're drooling over the iPhone, buy the iPod touch now. If you're happy with "just" 16GB of storage and want to upgrade from a previous generation iPod, the iPod touch is perfectly suited - if you need more than 16GB, take a look at the iPod classic (80 & 160GB).

I had a difficult time typing this post…had to get the twitches out and get focused on the keyboard. This is mainly because I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Paris Hilton is reportedly going to Rwanda to help bring aid to the country. The trip will happen in November and Paris chatted with E! Online about her plans for the trip.

On what prompted her trip:
“There’s so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help.”

On her increased interest in humanitarian causes:
“I want to visit more countries where poverty and children’s issues are a big concern. I know there’s a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues.”

On keeping the planet safe:
She will also be working on her new Beverly Hills home to make it more “green friendly.”
“I just bought the house and haven’t been able to work on it yet,” Hilton said. “But I intend to.”

It’s nice that Paris is seemingly attempting to be an actual full-fledged adult, but there must be some ulterior motive here. I’m guessing she wants to have a baby and wants to be responsible in the public’s eye so that she won’t get slammed when she gets pregnant. There’s just one problem though; when Paris gives birth thats when the world will end. It will simply implode. It will be like one of those Supernovas where a star implodes, except in this case the aftermath will be a 50-mile diamter ball of STD’s.

Its hard to keep up with Beth Ditto this month. She’s moved from rockin’ musician to full fledged fashion icon with an editorial in the Fall/Winter issue of cutting edge British glossy Pop and an interview in the September edition of Vogue Paris, arguably the single most important fashion magazine in existence.

The Size Hero edit in Pop, styled by Katie Grand and shot by Steven Klein is as artistic and eye catching as the magazine’s typical fare and features a glammed up Beth cavorting with male model Blake in the seasons choice outfits. Many specially made for Ditto just for the shoot - glamorous clothing yes but its a bit disheartening to know that the average girl will never have a shot at any of these things. I wouldn’t mind a Hussien Chalayan dress in my closet, thats for sure.

The Vogue Paris interview contains a couple of very beautiful snaps and what appears to be a profile focused mainly on The Gossip’s success. Though with my rather appalling command of the French language I could be entirely wrong. Eternal gratitude to anyone who can provide accurate translation.

It seems as though Beth is becoming more and more known, not just for her band but also for her status as a plus sized woman in an industry that isn’t particularly known for his celebration of difference. I can’t help but wonder whether the fashion press truly embraces her or if they are merely latching on to her seemingly endless cache of cool. Magazine’s like Pop and Vogue Paris are known for being cutting edge so seeing Beth within their pages isn’t as much of a shock but as Beth becomes more well known and ultimately more mainstream does the impact of her message get diluted? Is it less about plus sized girls and more about Beth Ditto, Rock Star?

The man rumored to be Lindsay Lohan’s new boyfriend has come clean about the relationship, revealing, “We’re great friends.” Tony Allen befriended Lohan in the Utah rehab she checked into earlier this summer, and is believed to be the guy the actress has been cooing about in letters to friends.

Allen recently checked out of the Cirque Lodge facility and he’s keen to set the record straight. Speaking exclusively to news show Extra, he says, “We share a common affliction and we just talk about life sometimes.”

Allen is also intent on helping his pal mend her image following reports that Lohan failed a drug test while she was in treatment. He adds, “Positively, absolutely none of that is true… She’s getting better every day.”

Burlesque queen Dita Von Teese has been named as the new face - and body - of Cointreau liqueur.

The former Mrs Marilyn Manson struck a two-year deal with Cointreau to market the brand. Details on the first advertising campaign have yet to be released, but it’s believed that Dita will appear in a push for the brand later this year.

Von Teese said: “For me, Cointreau is a quintessentially French brand, a product which transcends fashions and trends.”

Just like Dita.

Microsoft Launches Babel Fish, I mean Windows Live Translator

AltaVista (now owned by Yahoo) has had the Babel Fish translation service since the late nineties. The service, which is powered by a French company called Systran, takes bits of text and translates it from or into any of twelve languages. Entire web pages can also be translated by entering the URL.

A few blogs today have noted the quiet launch of Windows Live Translator, which appears to be the exact same service as Babel Fish, even down to the Systran software that powers it.

The service appears to be down right now and is returning an error. To their credit, though, they didn’t officially launch the service today, people just noticed that it was live and started to use it.

Google has a similar service, Google Translate, although they’ve built their own software to do the translations.

MySpace Hits 100 Million Accounts

MySpace slipped over the 100 million users mark earlier today (August 9th). Those who watched the dial claim that the 100,000,000 level was reached at 07:41 EST - as you can see, I missed it by a few thousand. Of course, that figure has been bumped up by millions of fake and inactive accounts, but it’s still a remarkable achievement.

The last available stats suggest that MySpace is currently signing up 500,000 new users a week, but they’ve added more than 170,000 accounts so far today - perhaps it’s a mid-week spike, or maybe there was a bit of gaming going on to see who could grab that coveted friend ID.

In what’s probably an apt tribute to MySpace, the 100 millionth account doesn’t work - instead, it returns the familiar message “Invalid Friend ID. This user has either cancelled their membership, or their account has been deleted.” This is the same message that many users saw when their accounts were “deleted” at the end of July. This was supposedly the result of the previous power outage (see MySpace Down), but if my blog comments are anything to go by, some users still can’t access their MySpace accounts.

Although it has been claimed that MySpace is the number one US site, the latest stats out of Comscore (July 2006) tell a different story - MySpace remains the number two site behind Yahoo, but looks set to reign supreme if the current trends continue.

Hrithik to star in Shankar's next?

Director Shankar returns to Chennai today after a month long break abroad. With Sivaji creating box office history and the Superstar giving him the entire credit for the film's success, there is no stopping this talented director.

So what will Shankar create next? Well, as of now he plans to completely concentrate on the films being made under his banner 'S' Pictures. He will also be giving creative inputs to his in-house directors Balaji Sakthivel, and Simbudevan, who are busy making films for his production house.

But rumours are buzzing that Shankar is all set to start work on his ambitious project Robo, a science fiction movie set in Chennai in 3050. The movie will be shot completely on sets as it is a futuristic film and will involve a lot of computer graphics.

It is also heard that a major Bollywood production house, with whom Shankar has a commitment to make a film, has roped in Telugu financier and producer Tirupati Prasad as executive producer. Together they are planning to make the Shankar film in Hindi for a global audience. It is rumoured that the production house has obtained dates from Hrithik Roshan, who is very eager to do a film with Shankar.

Shankar had previously planned to make the film with Kamal Haasan in Tamil. But for a global audience, a Bollywood hero would ensure greater appeal.

It is also heard that a Hollywood studio has also shown interest in the film and wants to be the presenter of the film.

Whether this exciting combination will come together....well, we have to wait and watch.

Gene Simmons Believes Each Country "Should Be Ruled by Women"

Sleeping with 4600 women and swearing off marriage altogether doesn't necessarily mean Gene Simmons is against women's empowerment. In fact, Simmons, star of A&E's Gene Simmons Family Jewels, told one Canadian web magazine that he is all for progressive social change for females, and believes women should be given the power to rule.

"I believe that every single country by dictum should be ruled by women but just at the high end,” Simmons told Dose.ca. However, he quickly added that men should be in charge of “pragmatic, everyday things [because] you women refuse to roll up your sleeves and build skyscrapers and pour concrete and pour the roads that we all drive on because your nails will break. That's why the ant colonies have it right: there's a queen and the rest are all male workers."

Chalk this up to another one of Simmons' unusual takes on modern society. He admitted he is governed by a different way of thinking than most people, but is not ashamed to live by it. This is evidenced by his demon-like rocker persona and non-marital union with Shannon Tweed.

"[My life] is not normal," Simmons said. "What I do and have done for decades is stick my prodigious oral member out ... hump my guitar and spit blood. And Shannon was, if you judge the book by the cover, the playmate of the year, on the cover of Playboy many, many times, and we've never been married. How is that normal?"

Gene Simmons justified his penchant for the unconventional, saying the result of leading a common lifestyle and following a standardized set of rules is “devastatingly horrible.” He debunked the common notion that marriage brings happiness to the couple, claiming most men don't even like their spouses. He, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoys being with Tweed, who appears alongside him on Family Jewels.

Simmons has clearly set himself apart from common society, but like most parents, he only wants the best for his children. He hopes his daughter and Family Jewels co-star, Sophie, will learn to veer away from the evils of mainstream culture and thoughtless conformity.

"What I tell Sophie, when we talk about life in general is, 'I hope you grow up to be Sophie and not the girlfriend of some guy,'" Gene Simmons told Dose.ca. "Women have to stop defining themselves by men. You take the guy's last name. Every women's magazine says 'The 10 things he's interested in,' 'What is he thinking?' 'Where is this going?' 'Do I have my mother's hips?' and every one of those articles weakens you."

Madeleine L’Engle, Children’s Writer, Is Dead

Madeleine L’Engle, who in writing more than 60 books, including childhood fables, religious meditations and science fiction, weaved emotional tapestries transcending genre and generation, died Thursday in Connecticut. She was 88.

Her death, of natural causes, was announced today by her publisher, Farrar, Straus and Giroux.

Ms. L’Engle (pronounced LENG-el) was best known for her children’s classic, “A Wrinkle in Time,” which won the John Newbery Award as the best children’s book of 1963. By 2004, it had sold more than 6 million copies, was in its 67th printing and was still selling 15,000 copies a year.

Her works — poetry, plays, autobiography and books on prayer — were deeply, quixotically personal. But it was in her vivid children’s characters that readers most clearly glimpsed her passionate search for the questions that mattered most. She sometimes spoke of her writing as if she were taking dictation from her subconscious.

“Of course I’m Meg,” Ms. L’Engle said about the beloved protagonist of “A Wrinkle in Time.”

The “St. James Guide to Children’s Writers” called Ms. L’Engle “one of the truly important writers of juvenile fiction in recent decades.” Such accolades did not come from pulling punches: “Wrinkle” is one of the most banned books because of its treatment of the deity.

“It was a dark and stormy night,” it begins, repeating the line of a 19th- century novelist Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, and presaging the immortal sentence that Snoopy, the inspiration-challenged beagle of the Peanuts cartoon, would type again and again. After the opening, “Wrinkle,” quite literally, takes off. Meg Murray, with help from her psychic baby brother, uses time travel and extrasensory perception to rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from a planet controlled by the Dark Thing. She does so through the power of love.

The book used concepts that Ms. L’Engle said she had plucked from Einstein’s theory of relativity and Planck’s quantum theory, almost flaunting her frequent assertion that children’s literature is literature too difficult for adults to understand. She also characterized the book as her refutation of ideas of German theologians.

In the “Dictionary of Literary Biography,” Marygail G. Parker notes “a peculiar splendor” in Ms. L’Engle’s oeuvre, and some of that splendor is sheer literary range. “Wrinkle” is part of her series of children’s books, which includes “A Wind in the Door,” “A Swiftly Tilting Planet,” “Many Waters” and “An Acceptable Time.” The series combines elements of science fiction with insights into love and moral purpose that pervade Ms. L’Engle’s writing.

Ms. L’Engle’s other famous series of books concerned another family. The first installment, “Meet the Austins,” which appeared in 1960, portrayed an affectionate family whose members displayed enough warts to make them interesting. (Perhaps not enough for The Times Literary Supplement in London, though; it called the Austins “too good to be real.”)

By the fourth of the five Austin books, “A Ring of Endless Light,” any hint of Pollyanna was gone. Named a Newbery Honor Book in 1981, it told of a 16-year-old girl’s first experience with death. Telepathic communication with dolphins eventually helps the girl, Vicky, achieve a new understanding of things.

“The cosmic battle between light and darkness, good and evil, love and indifference, personified in the mythic fantasies of the ‘Wrinkle in Time’ series, here is waged compellingly in its rightful place: within ourselves,” Carol Van Strum wrote in The Washington Post in 1980.

Madeleine L’Engle Camp was born in Manhattan on the snowy night of Nov. 29, 1918. The only child of Madeleine Hall Barnett and Charles Wadsworth Camp, she was named for her great-grandmother, who was also named Madeleine L’Engle.

Young Madeleine’s mother came from Jacksonville, Fla., society and was a fine pianist; her father was a World War I veteran who worked as a foreign correspondent and later as drama and music critic for The New York Sun. He also knocked out potboiler novels.

Movie Reviews: 'Shoot 'Em Up'

Bullets certainly do fly in Shoot 'Em Up -- but that's nothing compared with the barrage between the critics over the movie. On the one hand, A.O. Scott in the New York Times calls it "a worthless piece of garbage." He concludes his review by remarking: "You know what I hate? Witless, soulless, heartless movies that mistake noise for bravura and tastelessness for wit." Similarly, Michael Phillips in the Chicago Tribune writes: "It's not meant to be taken seriously. But films like this are worth taking seriously because they're genuinely cruddy and hollow and, yes, vile." And Ruthe Stein in the San Francisco Chronicle concludes that the movie represents "Hollywood's latest descent into nonsensical mayhem." But Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times calls it "the most audacious, implausible, cheerfully offensive, hyperactive action picture I've seen since, oh, Sin City, which in comparison was a chamber drama." While acknowledging that he sometimes disapproves of a movie for going too far, he nevertheless has "a sneaky regard for a movie that goes much, much farther than merely too far. This one goes so far, if you even want to get that far, you have to start half-way there." Lou Lumenick in the New York Post agrees, calling it, "the season's first guilty pleasure ... a joyously silly, R-rated, John Woo-inflected Looney Tune." And Jack Mathews in the New York Daily News describes it as "deliriously, audaciously entertaining," and remarks, "This is likely the fastest-moving intentionally funny action movie ever made. It's as if the 21 Bond movies and four Die Hards had been distilled to remove their body fat (that is, character development, buildup, rest stops, etc.) and left us with only the killing and the punch lines."

MTV Nets encircle the Web with slate of sites

A new hub for Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" headlines a slate of two dozen targeted Web sites that Viacom's MTV Networks will launch by the first quarter as it continues its "vertical" digital strategy.

TheDailyShow.com, which launches in the fourth quarter, will archive the entire video history of the show including headlines, interviews and the "Back in Black" feature. The portal also will present the previous evening's episode in its entirety an hour or two after its broadcast.

The launch comes on the heels of an estimated $75 million deal between Comedy Central and the creators of "South Park" that includes the creation of SouthParkStudios.com (HR 8/28). The site launched this year and will relaunch in the first quarter as part of an unprecedented production deal for the duo, which will see them split online ad revenue from the show with Viacom.

Comedy Central's "The Sarah Silverman Program," MTV's "Engaged and Underage" and Nickelodeon's "iCarly" also will get new sites.

The sites are the latest in MTVN's strategy in the online arena, which establishes individual destinations for shows and related subject matters instead of a centralized site. The new portals will bring the worldwide total of MTVN Web sites to more than 300 destinations by year's end.

"We're accelerating it across the company," said Mika Salmi, president of global digital media at MTVN. "It's worked very well and advertisers like it because they can expand their reach in a very targeted manner."

The sites join a growing list of targeted Web sites that the Viacom property has launched in the past year in conjunction with its TV shows. Other sites include Comedy Central's Indecision2008.com, MTV's YoMomma.TV and SuperSweet16.com and VH1's BestWeekEver.TV.

Traffic across MTVN's properties has increased from 76 million unique visitors in January to 91 million visitors in July, according to comScore Media Metrix.

Brian Graden, president of entertainment for the MTVN Music Group, said that the verticals for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and MTV's "The Real World" have been particularly successful. He said the company has no plans to abandon any of the verticals yet, but he mentioned that it is still early to decide for a lot of them.

"You need four to six months before you say 'I think I've got something,' " Graden said. "For a lot of these, we're aiming for them to outlast the show."

He mentioned that the site for "Super Sweet 16" as an example of a vertical that would still be relevant even if the show were off the air.

Overall, Graden and Salmi said they were happy with the verticals. Salmi said that the strategy of having a large volume of Web properties complements the way most people use the Internet.

"Consumers, on the whole, use search to find what they want on the Web," Salmi said. "By having these verticals, we work well with that type of behavior. We see a lot of time spent and people getting deeper into the experience."

The company also will launch a teen girl gaming site, the N's the-Ngames.com, and a site for video game cheats and hints, WikiCheats.com. This follows MTVN's announcement last month that the network will commit more than $500 million to its digital gaming business during the next two years.

The company also is launching more niche sites ranging from hip-hop dance to stand-up comedy to gay-focused animation. VH1EyeCandy.com, a pop culture site that debuted in beta mode last month, also will fully launch.

MTVN's international group will see a boosted online presence as well. The company will present a Web site for November's MTV Europe Awards and other targeted sites throughout the continent. MTV Japan and Southeast Asia also will get new sites as will the Video Music Awards Latin America.

Also on Thursday, an MTV spokesman confirmed that Viacom's Brand Solutions cross-platform sales unit has been dissolved. Lisa McCarthy, the executive vp at the head of that unit is leaving the company along with her No. 2 in command, senior vp Marc Weinhouse. The remaining nine staffers will be absorbed into MTVN's three sales unit.

Microsoft Officially Launches Silverlight

Microsoft has officially launched its Flash rival Silverlight .

Silverlight 1.0 provides cross browser support under both Windows and OS X, and in a partnership with Novell will also be available for Linux.

Silverlight was initially released to rave reviews in late April, with Michael Arrington saying that it would become “the platform of choice for developers who build rich Internet applications.”
Microsoft has rolled out a number of Silverlight powered applications since then, including Live Station, Popfly and Tafiti.

Microsoft has also announced that a number of content providers will be providing Silverlight enabled content online, including Entertainment Tonight, HSN and World Wrestling Entertainment.

Googlers Get Kinky On Wikipedia

Users of Google registered IP addresses contributed to Wikipedia entries including “Amateur Pornography“, the “List of male performers in gay porn films” and “Mutual Masturbation” according to data pulled from Wikiscanner. Other sexually related edits include the pages for sex show and the talk:Fuck sex; a particular person is using a computer with a Google IP address to share the details of his sex life with the world.

Another user decided to clean up one Wikipedia entry by correcting the definition to read “”Motherfucker means to fuck your mother also known as incest,” which of course made the entry that much more clearer.

User’s of IP addresses registered to Google’s Corporate IT Department edited a page pertaining to something called “Breast expansion fetishism” and these two which I won’t name lest I haven’t upset enough people with the language in the post already.

Overall though, people using Google IP addresses are a fairly tame bunch, with no evidence that they have been editing the pages of Google competitors, the story I had initially looked to research. However, there were two edits by people using Google IP addresses to pages relating to Google; the first removes the term Googly from the Google (Verb) Entry, the second bizarrely deletes mention of Google having an office in Ireland.

It's Idol time

This month the 5th series of Australian Idol kicked off. Over in the UK the 4th series of X-Factor is currently one of the highest rated shows on television, meanwhile American Idol is currently holding auditions for its 7th season. Considering Idol is aired in over 30 countries all over the world, it seems nobody can escape this music show phenomenon.

Even though I was rejected from my audition (they asked me to take off the monkey suit, and refused to accept my excuse that this would in fact kill me) I still find myself tuning in every week to see instant celebrities made out of these young boys and girls.

We've even got our first four contestants through to the final 12, Tarisai Vushe, Lana Krost, Matt Corby and Jacob Butler. You couldn't ask for a more distinct bunch. First, we've got a future teen heartthrob in Corby, who seems pretty darn close to being this year's Dean Geyer. Then there's Mr Butler, who holds the distinction of having made it through to the top 100 already in a previous season, as well as being booted off X factor and UK idol before. Can't he take a hint?

The most recent two to enter the top twelve also differ greatly. While Lana Krost seems a little, erm, vanilla, the same can't be said for vocal ninja Tarisai. But even though her tonsil acrobatics are guaranteed to entertain, her enthusiastic belief that the Lord Almighty Himself is personally responsible for her continued success seems bound to produce some of the more memorable soundbites this year.

For example, can you imagine the lord Jesus bestowing such holy grandeur on her arrangement of "Bootylicious&q uot; that the contest is abandoned and Tarisai declared instant victor in week 6? I'm not saying it will happen, but you never know with live TV.

So, what is the appeal of Australian Idol or other shows with a similar format such as RockStar, Star Search and Popstars?

Perhaps it's the cringe-worthy auditions at the beginning of the season. You know, those people who come in thinking they're the next Whitney Houston when they really sound like a drunken cat on Karaoke night at your local pub? Isn't it horrible when you shout "get off" at them and they think that you said, "get it off"?

But then there are those who emerge from these types of shows who can actually sing and go on to huge success either only in their country (Guy Sebastian, Anthony Callea) or worldwide (Kelly Clarkson, Will Young).

Idol draws a lot of criticism from many people in the music industry who claim that it takes away from the genuine and talented singer/songwriters who are struggling to get a record deal or sell albums. But is there room in this world for both?

Harry Potter, Lindsay and the Simpsons

In case you've been hiding under a rock the past month you may have heard that the final Harry Potter novel was released, Lindsay Lohan was arrested (again!) for drink driving and the world's favourite cartoon family released a movie after 18 years on TV.

This wise old monkey would like to weigh in on these current popular topics.

First to the end of Harry Potter. Daniel Radcliffe himself has turned 18, the final book has finished so we have all (mostly) learned the fate of Harry, Voldemort et al, but do you really think that's the end of Harry Potter the franchise? Sure, there are still two movies to go, but something tells me Warner Brothers and Bloomsbury aren't going to wring the neck of this golden goose just yet.

Stop me if you've heard this before: Lindsay Lohan was busted on July 24th for driving under the influence and Columbian marching powder possession mere days after completing her 2nd stint in rehab. Was anyone really surprised? Oh Lindsay, Lindsay, Lindsay we had such high hopes for you especially after we saw Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.

Yes, it's sad that this young girl has a serious addiction but what bothers us even more is that the likes of Lindsay, Paris and Britney are actually role models to young teens worldwide. Please tell us this isn't true? You're living up to that cruel nickname 'Li-Lo' Miss Lohan, and something tells us your next movie is going to suffer as a result.

What can you expect to see from an animated cartoon movie that has already been on the TV for 18 years? Well, Bart's doodle for one. Tee hee.

We here at Cooeey all grew up watching The Simpsons. It seems people around the world were just as excited to watch the film as we were - it made over $US167 million in just 3 days. And this was in spite of a number of lukewarm reviews!

What is it about this 4 fingered yellow family that appeals to the world? Despite all their flaws, fighting and weaknesses (Duff beer!) the family are absolutely devoted to each other. And if you don't appreciate that you can eat my shorts.

Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer (Austin Powers), and Romany Malco (Blades of Glory, 40-Year-Old Virgin) have joined Mike Myers in the cast of The Love Guru for Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment.

Myers will play Pitka, an American raised by gurus in India who moves to the U.S. where he gets involved in resolving a rift between a professional hockey player (Malco) and his estranged wife, who starts an affair with a rival hockey player. This sends Malco’s character into a professional slump.

Alba plays the hockey team owner and Troyer plays the coach. Myers is producing with Michael De Luca. The movie is slotted for a June 20 release. Alba will next star in the romantic comedy Good Luck Chuck with Dane Cook and the thriller The Eye for C/W Prods.

Steroid enthusiast Danny Bonaduce delivers a baby gift basket on Tuesday to the home of Joel Madden for Nicole Richie as a radio stunt.

When Danny arrived to the house, he called into the ‘Adam Carolla Radio Show’ and was live on the air as he knocked on her door, not expecting anyone to answer.

Danny stood at the door waiting for a couple minutes and to his surprise the mum-to-be opened the door and accepted the gift bag.

I guess Nicole got the last laugh on this one!

Catherine Zeta Jones heated up the red carpet last night at the premiere of her new movie, No Reservations. I know we’ve been seeing a lot of her lately (here and here) but she looks so good it would be a crime not to post these pictures! Love her or hate her, you have to admit that the woman has got it going on…and she gets some serious bonus points for being 37 and having the legs of a 25 year old!

Here she is with her co-star Aaron Eckhart, a little man candy for you…if he is your kinda man.

And just for good measure, I’ll throw in a picture of her arriving at the Late Show with David Letterman last night. She truly has been keeping busy these days! A premiere and a talk show all in the same day sounds like too much work for me. I would stress out with all the hair and makeup changes, but it’s all in a day’s work for a celebrity.
